Valour FC made a big splash on Tuesday, announcing the signing of former Major League Soccer midfielder Louis Béland-Goyette on a one-year contract.

Béland-Goyette, 23, spent the past three seasons with the Montreal Impact of the MLS, where he made 11 appearances in 2017-18.

The Pointe-Claire, Que., native has also represented Canada at numerous levels. He played at the 2015 CONCACAF U20 championship and on the Canadian under-23 team at the 2015 Pan Am Games.

He joins former Impact teammate and fellow midfielder Michael Petrasso on the team.

“Louis is another fantastic signing for us and similarly to (Michael) Petrasso in that he is every bit an MLS-level player but with a little bit of bad luck, and without the poor timing of an injury, he’d still be there,” Valour FC head coach and general manager Rob Gale said in a media release. “He’s a great ball-playing midfielder, a terrific character and we are over the moon to have him join us.”
