Former Valour FC captain Jordan Murrell has been suspended six games by the Canadian Premier League following his in-game antics against HFX Wanderers FC, Valour head coach Rob Gale confirmed on Tuesday.

Murrell received a red card in last Monday’s game after exchanging a few harsh words and giving a one-armed shove to referee Filip Dujic, following what Murrell believed to be a missed call.

Following his ejection, Murrell walked to the sidelines and kicked the scorer’s table, sending papers flying, before storming to the locker room.

“I think it’s a just punishment. We wrote a line under it early, Jordan took necessary steps to apologize firstly to his teammates and us as coaching staff, the fans associated with the club, and went out of his way to make sure he apologized to the fella sitting at the table and to Halifax and the league itself,” Gale said.

The Canadian Premier League notified Gale of its decision by letter on Monday, stating it was an automatic three games for the red card and an additional three for his post-ejection actions.
