Injured Jets defenceman Josh Morrissey (upper body) will not play tonight against the visiting Washington Capitals but could return for Winnipeg’s game in Edmonton against the Oilers Saturday night.

Morrissey joined centre Adam Lowry (upper body) and defenceman Carl Dahstrom (upper body) in non-contact jerseys for the club’s Thursday morning skate. Lowry, head coach Paul Maurice said, is “not day-to-day yet but not that far off” from returning to the lineup.

Meanwhile, blue-liner Sami Niku (lower body) remains sidelined and is considered week-to-week after being injured during pre-game soccer prior to the Jets 4-3 shootout loss in Washington Tuesday night.
