SEAN Grassie has a chance to add a fifth Manitoba mixed curling championship to his resume.
The Winnipeg skip and his team of third Sarah-Jane Sass, second Daryl Evans and lead Callen Friesen from the Deer Lodge Club has qualified for Monday’s provincial final. It’s set for 2 p.m. at the Granite.
Alex Forrest’s crew from Assiniboine-Memorial meets Corey Chambers of Pembina in a semi-final showdown at 10 a.m.
Grassie finished 4-1 in the preliminary round, the identical record as Forrest. However, Grassie defeated Forrest 7-6 in their matchup Saturday and gained the free pass to the final.
The provincial mixed winner qualifies for the Canadian championship, set for Nov. 7-14 in Canmore, Alta.
Grassie won Manitoba mixed titles in 1999, 2009, 2012 and 2014, capturing the national championship in 2009.
