The Winnipeg Jets didn’t leave the Okanagan empty-handed.
A mix of some of Winnipeg’s top prospects and players trying to latch on with the NHL organization combined to defeat the Calgary Flames rookies 5-3 at the Young Stars Classic in Penticton, B.C., on Monday afternoon.
Cole Perfetti, Chaz Lucius and Brad Lambert — a trio of first-round draft picks — scored for the Jets, while Greg Meireles and Tyler Boland also chipped in singles.

Winnipeg dropped its first two games of the four-team tournament, falling 3-2 to the Edmonton Oilers prospects Friday and 4-1 to the Vancouver Canucks youngsters Sunday.
The defeat was the third in a row for the Flames.
Lambert, selected late in the first round (30th overall) of the 2022 draft in July, tied the contest 1-1 late in the opening period with an easy tap-in, although his sneaky steal of the puck near the Calgary blue line started the scoring play.
The speedy 18-year-old Finn created several qualities chances as the game wore on but couldn’t connect.

Lucius, a first-round pick in ‘21, scored on a quick shot from the slot after a terrific feed from Boland to hand Winnipeg a 2-1 lead about six minutes into the second period.
Calgary evened things early in the third but Perfetti, taken in the opening round in 2020, replied less than a minute later.
The Flames once again pulled even but Winnipeg grabbed its third lead of the game midway through the third frame. Greg Meireles, who had five tallies and 22 assists in 49 outings last season with the Moose, was credited with the go-ahead goal when a point shot banked off his helmet and bounced in.
Boland’s empty-net goal sealed the triumph with less than two minutes left.
The Jets’ main training camp begins Wednesday with medicals and fitness testing, while on-ice sessions start Thursday at the Iceplex.
