Hey there, time traveller!

Teddy Allen routinely brought Sea Bears fans out of their seats with on-court heroics that earned him a most-valuable-player trophy during the Canadian Elite Basketball League’s debut season in Winnipeg.
Since the CEBL season ended in late August, however, the 25-year-old guard’s talents have gone mostly unappreciated. Allen remains in Phoenix, his hometown, while trying to keep his skills sharp during workouts at Grand Canyon University.
Other CEBL players have earned contracts in Europe or the NBA G League but not Allen. He recently fired his team of agents who failed to register him in time for the recent G League Draft.

Teddy Allen, who earned MVP honours with Winnipeg Sea Bears, dumped his agents after they failed to register him for the NBA G League draft.
“He’s obviously been a little bit frustrated because he believes like, ‘Hey, I did my part,’ but for whatever reason, it just hasn’t clicked,” Sea Bears GM and head coach Mike Taylor said Tuesday by phone from his home in Jacksonville, Fla. “But he’s got people trying to help him. I think he’s made a good decision with the agent change and I’m hopeful over let’s say a week to two weeks to a month, during this new agent’s contract time, I’m hopeful that something could open up.”
Taylor said Allen’s predicament is similar to Xavier Moon, a three-time CEBL MVP with the Edmonton Stingers who played for several seasons before reaching the NBA.
Allen averaged 27.6 points (second in the CEBL) and 7.9 rebounds (first amongst guards), a team-high 1.6 steals and 3.6 assists per game for the Sea Bears while also being named a first-team league all-star. The CEBL season runs from May to August, thereby avoiding most scheduling conflicts with pro leagues in Europe and Asia.
“He’s on a short-term agreement with this (new) agent to try to get something,” said Taylor. “Obviously, we want to see Teddy back in Winnipeg (next summer). Teddy has a great feeling for his experience last summer and he wants to continue to play for the Sea Bears.
“But it’s not the type of situation that you can wait all year and then say, ‘I’m just going to play in Winnipeg.’ You have to make some money, you’ve got to build your career, and we want to try to help him make the next steps and take his career to the next level. Unfortunately, it hasn’t come easy for him.”
