It was an day free of upsets at the Provincial AAAA High School Volleyball Championship quarter-finals Saturday.

In varsity girls action at Sisler High School, the No. 1-seeded Lord Selkirk Royals upended eighth-seeded Miles Macdonnell Buckeyes 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20 to advance while the fourth-seeded the Vincent Massey (Brandon) Vikings downed the the No. 5 Fort Richmond Centurions 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 26-24.

Meanwhile, the No. 3 Steinbach Sabres edged the No. 6 Vincent Massey (Winnipeg) Trojans 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 26-24 and the second-seeded Collège Jeanne-Sauvé Olympiens swept the No. 10 Dakota Lancers 25-23, 26-24, 25-21.

Those results set up Wednesday semifinals matchup between Selkirk and Massey (Brandon) at 6 p.m. and Jeanne-Sauvé and Steinbach at 8 p.m.

In varsity boys action at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, the top-seeded Vincent Massey (Winnipeg) Trojans swept No. 8 Miles Macdonell 25-17, 25-12, 26-24 to advance to a Thursday semifinal showdown at 6 p.m. with the River East Kodiaks.

No. 4 River East eliminated the fifth-seeded St. Paul’s Crusaders 25-21, 21-25, 29-27, 30-28.

Meanwhile, the third-seeded Glenlawn Lions earned a semifinal date with the No. 2 Dakota Lancers by beating the No. 11 Daniel McIntyre Maroons 25-20, 24-26, 25-18, 25-21.

The Lancers, who will face Glenlawn Thursday at 8 p.m., captured their semifinal berth by beating the No. 10 Transcona Titans 25-23, 26-24, 25-15.

All varsity girls and boys semifinals will be held at Investors Group Athletic Centre.
