Jake Thomas, the longest serving member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, is returning for his 12th CFL season.

The 33-year-old defensive end from Douglas, N.B., has agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension, the club announced Friday.

Thomas, who has spent his entire career with the Blue Bombers, was scheduled to become a free agent on Feb. 13. The 6-2, 274-pounder was chosen by Winnipeg in the fourth round (29th overall) in the 2012 CFL Draft.

In 2023, he suited up for all of Winnipeg’s games for the sixth consecutive year and matched a career high with five quarterback sacks while adding 17 defensive tackles.

Thomas now has 25 career sacks and 123 career tackles. He was part of the Blue Bombers championship teams in 2019 and 2021.
