Three Manitoba Bisons were named Canada West women’s hockey all-stars on Wednesday.
Fifth-year players Erica Rieder and Lauryn Keen were named as 2018-19 Canada West first-team all-stars. Their teammate, Alexandra Anderson, who’s also in her final year of eligibility, was named to the second team.
It’s the third time Rieder, 22, has been selected as a conference all-star. Rieder finished the 2018-19 regular season as the conference’s leading scorer among defencemen with four goals and 13 assists.
Keen, a 22-year-old forward who led the Bisons in scoring during the regular season with 13 goals and 13 assists, was also an all-star in 2016-17, the same season she won the Canada West most-outstanding player award.
Anderson is also a multiple all-star, as the defenceman was a first-team star in 2016-17. With five goals and 10 assists this season, Anderson, 22, was the third-highest scoring defenceman in the conference.
The Bisons host the UBC Thunderbirds in the Canada West semifinals this weekend.
