A wholesome interaction between George Springer and a young Blue Jays fan caught on video was posted on the team’s Twitter account Thursday.
The video shows Springer heading to the on-deck circle at a recent game when a young boy shouts for his attention while offering him a pair of batting gloves.
“I’ve got these ones but they’re kind of dirty,” Springer told him, about his own gloves.
Shortly after, the boy responds saying, “You made my day! Thank you!”
The player offered some encouraging words to the boy, asking him to promise to “always do your best and don’t ever quit.”
“Yes, sir,” the boy responds, nodding his head with a big smile on his face.
The young boy didn’t have a Jays game to watch Thursday.
The threat of rain forced the postponement the game against the Baltimore Orioles, and it will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sept. 11.
