TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays have selected reliever Jacob Barnes to the major-league roster and optioned fellow right-hander Anthony Castro to triple-A Buffalo.
The moves were announced shortly before the Blue Jays’ game against the New York Yankees on Wednesday night at Rogers Centre.
Barnes, acquired last June in a trade with the New York Mets, entered play with a 0-1 record and 6.00 earned-run average over nine appearances with the Blue Jays this season. He was 1-1 with a 6.27 ERA over 19 appearances with the Mets.
The Blue Jays also announced that infielder Jake Lamb had cleared release waivers and is now a free agent.
