SARASOTA, Fla. – Starter Zach Thompson allowed five hits and four earned runs over three innings as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4 on Thursday night.

The 29-year-old right-hander registered three strikeouts with no walks.

Toronto opened the contest with two runs in the first inning. But Baltimore countered with two runs in the second and third before scoring three times in the fifth to go ahead 7-2.

Toronto scored its final two runs in the ninth. Shortstop Addison Barger had a hit and drove in a run while also scoring once for the Blue Jays.

Toronto resumes its spring-training schedule Friday, visiting the Philadelphia Phillies.
