TORONTO (AP) — New York Yankees center fielder Trent Grisham left Monday night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays after four innings because of a tight left hamstring.
Jasson Domínguez replaced Grisham on defense in the fifth, coming in to play left field as Cody Bellinger moved from left to center.
Grisham went 1 for 2 before exiting. He hit a leadoff single in the fourth and scored on Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s 14th home run.
“We’ll see what it looks like tomorrow,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after his team’s 5-4 loss. “Obviously, he’s been an outstanding, valuable, two-way player for us all year.”
Grisham said he felt soreness in his hamstring after breaking for the ball and then pulling up on Jonatan Clase’s looping single in the bottom of the fourth.
“My foot kind of got caught up underneath me in a weird spot,” Grisham said. “I told Boonie and felt like it was just smarter to see what happens.”
Grisham is batting .246 with 15 home runs and 32 RBIs. Eleven of his homers have tied the game or given the Yankees the lead.
