TORONTO – Right-hander Nick Sandlin cleared waivers and has elected free agency, the Toronto Blue Jays said Monday.
The reliever made 19 appearances for the Blue Jays last season but missed the second half of the campaign and playoffs due to right elbow inflammation.
The Blue Jays outrighted him to Triple-A Buffalo last Friday.
Sandlin and Andres Gimenez were acquired by the Blue Jays last December in a three-team trade with the Cleveland Guardians and Pittsburgh Pirates.
Sandlin posted a 0-2 record and 2.20 earned-run average with Toronto along with five holds and one save. He held opposing hitters to a .186 batting average.
In 228 career big-league games, Sandlin is 19-10 with a 3.19 ERA.
