TORONTO – George Springer’s RBI single in the fourth inning was all the Toronto Blue Jays needed in a 1-0 win over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday.

Springer drove in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as Toronto (46-52) snapped a three-game skid.

Shane Bieber (1-1) was superb, striking out six over six scoreless innings. He allowed only three hits and two walks in his best start of the season.

Relievers Jeff Hoffman, Tyler Rogers and Louis Varland combined for three scoreless innings to clinch the win.

Davis Martin (9-5) allowed just the one run on four hits and two walks, striking out five over 5 2/3 innings as Chicago (51-46) had its four-game win streak snapped.

Seam Newcomb and Jordan Hicks combined for 2 1/3 innings of scoreless work.

Blue Jays: It was only Bieber’s fifth start of the season, and the first game where he had gone more than 5 1/3 innings and also the first time this season he had not allowed any runs. Bieber missed the start of the season due to right elbow inflammation.

White Sox: The American League Central leaders came out flat after a dominant 12-4 win over Toronto on Friday. They managed just four hits in the game and had no answer for Bieber or the rest of Toronto’s pitching.
