KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays placed pitcher Jameson Taillon on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation Saturday, a day after his abbreviated return from the IL.

The 34-year-old starter was pulled after two innings against the Kansas City Royals and sent for an MRI. The team is seeking a second opinion on the imaging, and manager John Schneider said the Blue Jays haven’t ruled out Taillon for the season.

Taillon was making his first appearance since Aug. 10, when he went on the IL with right forearm tendinitis. The right-hander allowed one run and two hits in two innings before leaving.

Taillon is 2-6 this season with a 5.65 ERA in 18 starts. He has pitched 10 innings over three games since being acquired from the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 2.

Toronto (72-71) pulled even with Cleveland in the race for the final American League wild card Saturday night with a 4-3 victory over the Royals.
