CINCINNATI (AP) — Infielder/outfielder Oswaldo Cabrera and the Cincinnati Reds agreed Thursday to a $1 million, one-year contract.
The 27-year-old Cabrera can earn $200,000 in performance bonuses for plate appearances: $50,000 each for 200, 300, 400 and 500. He was eligible for arbitration.
Cabrera was claimed by the Reds off waivers from the Yankees on Sept. 18. He was 0 for 9 with the Yankees and was 4 for 13 for Cincinnati, playing under a $1.2 million, one-year contract.
He spent most of the season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and batted .288 with 19 homers, 69 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 122 games.
Cabrera saw significant playing time with the Yankees in 2023 and 2024. He fractured his left ankle on May 13, 2025, at Seattle during an awkward slide, ending his season.
He has a .233 average with 20 homers, 95 RBIs and 16 stolen bases in parts of five major league seasons.
