Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 03/02/2009 (6397 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
In what may be proof that we’ve got granite between our ears rather than brains, we reported Friday that last year’s MCA Bonspiel attracted 441 teams.
In fact, only 401 foursomes registered in 2008. That means the 412 that entered the 121st bonspiel in 2009 is actually an increase, not a decrease, over last year. We acknowledge the hogline violation.
‘Arch’ de triomphe
MCA curler Don Benson sent us his own curling club restaurant review. Here it is.
“Today we ate at the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club. The two soups were tremendous but we all had the “Big Arch Burger” and wow!! It was sooo big and only $4.75 for the burger. This is our fave lunch so far at the curling clubs.”
From boys to men
Kyle Peters and his team won the Manitoba juniors last year and finished 7-9 at the Canadian championship, but now they’re competing for a spot in the Safeway Championship in the men’s division at the 2009 MCA.
“This is the first year we’re actually in men’s,” said Peters, who’s from Morden. “We were always serious before but before it was always as juniors and now we’re men so it means a lot to us because it’s our last chance to get to the (Safeway).”
