FLIMS, Switzerland — Rachel Homan of Ottawa punched her ticket to the women’s final of the world junior curling championships by beating Sweden 9-3 on Friday in the 1-2 Page playoff game.
Meanwhile Jake Walker and his Kitchener, Ont., rink earned a men’s playoff berth by beating Norway 8-4 in a tiebreaker.
Homan’s rink built a 7-0 early lead, highlighted by a steal of four in the third end, when Swedish skip Anna Hasselborg’s draw went through the house.
Homan will face the winner of today’s semifinal between the United States and Sweden.
In men’s action, Walker allowed an early lead to slip away before finishing off Steffen Mellemseter and his Norwegian rink.
Walker, who finished the round-robin portion at 6-3, faces Switzerland, which finished the round-robin at 7-2, in the 3-4 Page playoff game today. Scotland will face China in the 1-2 game.
