OTTAWA — Saskatchewan’s Brad Heidt remained unbeaten at the Canadian senior curling championships after a 7-5 win over Peter MacDonald of P.E.I. in 11th-draw play Tuesday.
Heidt scored two in the eighth and another in the ninth to rally past MacDonald (2-4) and run his record to 6-0.
Quebec’s Pierre Charette remained on his tail at 5-1 after scoring twice in the 10th end and again in the 11th for a 7-6 win over Manitoba’s Rob Ramage (1-5).
Two-time world champion Al Hackner of Northern Ontario improved to 4-2 with an 8-6 win over B.C.’s Wes Craig (3-3).
On the women’s side, New Brunswick’s Heidi Hanlon fell into a three-way tie for second after falling 7-6 in an extra end to Alberta’s Diane Foster.
Hanlon, Foster and Newfoundland and Labrador’s Laura Philips — a 10-3 winner over Ann McKellar-Gillis of Yukon/Northwest Territories (2-4) — are all 4-2.
Saskatchewan’s Susan Lang, who was off in the morning draw, leads at 5-0.
Ontario’s Dale Curtis improved to 3-3 after a 6-5 win over Nova Scotia’s Jocelyn Nix (1-5).
