Alberta perfect after six draws at juniors

NAPANEE, Ont. — Both Alberta rinks and Quebec’s men’s rink remained unbeaten with victories in Draw 6 on Sunday at the M&M Meat Shops Canadian juniors curling championship.

Brendan Bottcher’s Edmonton rink improved to 4-0 with an easy 8-2 win over Ontario’s Brett DeKoning.

Quebec’s Felix Asselin kept pace with Bottcher atop the standings by defeating Daniel Murray of the Northwest Territories 10-4.

Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alta., was also perfect through six draws after a 9-6 win over Ontario’s Jamie Sinclair on the women’s side.

Peterman (4-0) is alone in front, with B.C.’s Kesa Van Osch, who beat Northern Ontario’s Kendra Lilly 8-6 in Draw 6, second at 3-1.

After six draws on the women’s side, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, P.E.I., New Brunswick were third at 2-1. Quebec and Ontario were fourth at 2-2. Saskatchewan and Yukon were 1-2, followed by Newfoundland and Labrador (1-3) while Northern Ontario and the Northwest Territories were tied for last place at 0-3.

Brennan Wark’s Northern Ontario rink was alone in second place at 3-0 in the men’s standings, followed by Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan at 2-1. P.E.I., New Brunswick and Yukon shared fourth at 1-2, followed by Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador at 1-3. The Northwest Territories (0-3) and B.C. (0-4) are still winless.
