Five memorable Jennifer Jones games

1. Championship final, 2005

Trailing Ontario’s Jenn Hanna 6-4. Jones authors an in-off for 4 with the final rock of the 10th end to win her first Canadian championship 8-6.

2. Tiebreaker, 2009

Trailing Prince Edward Island’s Robyn MacPhee 5-4, Jones steals the 10th end and the extra end to win 6-5. She goes on to win the 3 vs. 4 game, the semifinal and the final to capture her third Canadian title.

3. Round robin versus Newfoundland, 2008

Trailing Newfoundland’s Heather Strong 7-5, Strong runs out of time in the 10th end and has to hurry her last rock, handing Jones a game-winning three-ender. The win keeps Jones’s playoff hopes alive and she cashes in, running the table through a tiebreaker game en route to her second Canadian title.

4. Round robin versus Manitoba, 2011

Jones, as skip of Team Canada, goes head to head against her former third, Cathy Overton-Clapham, who is skipping the Manitoba entry. Overton-Clapham shoots an eye-popping 93 per cent in an 8-6 Manitoba win. TV ratings for the clash are monstrous and TSN officials later declare it one of the most watched round-robin telecasts of all time.

5. Championship final, 2008

Clinging to a 5-4 lead, Jones looks to be beaten as Alberta skip Shannon Kleibrink plays a short runback double with the final rock of the game for what looks to be the win. But Kleibrink — who’d been beaten just once all week — misses and Jones wins her second title.
