TAARNBY, Denmark – Canada won its final women’s round-robin match on Friday to remain undefeated through preliminary play at the world junior curling championship.

Skip Mary Fay of Chester, N.S., downed Scotland 6-2 to improve to 9-0.

The Canadians scored two points apiece in the third and fifth ends to take control of the game. They added singles in the eighth and ninth.

Canada will face the United States in the 1-2 Page playoff on Saturday while third-place Korea has to wait for Saturday morning’s tiebreaker between Hungary and Sweden to see who it will meet in the 3-4 Page playoff game.

“It means so much (to make the playoffs),” Fay said. “We’ve had a good week so far, we’ve been focused and supporting one another. We’re just excited to wear the Maple Leaf again, it doesn’t happen that often.”

On the men’s side, Matt Dunstone’s Winnipeg rink beat Russia by 6-4 in the evening draw after defeating Norway 4-3 in the morning. Dunstone wrapped up round robin in third place and will play fourth-placed Switzerland in the 3-4 Page playoff.
