SASKATOON – Dawn and Mike McEwen downed Ashely Ewasiuk and Mark Anderson 7-3 on Thursday night to stay undefeated through the first six draws of the Canadian mixed doubles curling championship.
McEwen/McEwen scored two in the first end and three in the third to seal their third win of the day and a three-way tie atop Pool C with Kaylynn Park/Charley Thoman and Nancy Martin/Catlin Schneider.
Seven other teams — out of 32 — remained perfect after the first day.
Rachel Homan/Mark Nichols sat tied for first with Laura Crocker/Geoff Walker in Pool A.
Lisa Weagle/John Epping and Jocelyn Peterman/Brett Gallant were at 3-0 in Pool B.
Joanne Courtny/Reid Carruthers, Emma Miskew/Ryan Fry and Marliese Kasner/Dustin Kalthoff were the teams tied for first in Pool D.
Round robin continues Friday and Saturday with the final scheduled for Sunday.
The winner will represent Canada at the world championship in Karlstad, Sweden, in April.
