Braden Calvert’s Assiniboine Memorial team put in some extra work to claim the Manitoba mixed curling championship on Sunday evening.

Using the hammer, Calvert scored a single point in the extra end to defeat Corey Chambers of Miami 6-5 at the Springfield Curling Club.

Calvert is joined on the winning foursome by third Beth Peterson, second Kyle Kurz and lead Melissa Gordon. The team will compete at the 2020 Canadian mixed championship in November in Saguenay, Que.

Chambers earlier defeated Travis Bale of Fort Rouge 7-2 in one semi-final match, while Calvert beat Wes Jonasson of Thistle 6-2 in the other.
