The Manitoba curling community has lost a legend.

Janet Arnott, a member of both the provincial and Canadian curling halls of fame, died earlier this week after a battle with cancer. She was 63.

Arnott curled lead with her sister, Connie Laliberte, for two decades, capturing the world women’s championship in 1984, losing the world final in ‘95 in Brandon and finishing third at the worlds in ‘92. In all, she competed in eight national Scotties championships.

During her career, Arnott won five Manitoba titles with her sister. She also won provincial crowns with skips Cathy Overton-Clapham and Jennifer Jones.

She also coached the Jones foursome to Olympic gold in 2014.
