THE Hamilton Tiger-Cats added another quarterback to the fold on Friday, signing free-agent import pivot Kevin Glenn.
The move had been expected since the eight-year Canadian Football League veteran was released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on March 9.
“Kevin’s talent, experience and leadership will make him a valuable member of our team,” Ticats general manager Bob O’Billovich said in a statement. “He will be a great fit in our offence and will give us a better chance to win in 2009.”
Glenn, a five-foot-10, 203-pound native of Detroit, is expected to push Quinton Porter for the starter’s job. The Ticats roster also includes four other quarterbacks, including Richie Williams, Adam Tafralis, Josh Betts and Erik Meyer.
The Illinois State product is entering his ninth CFL season, after spending the previous eight seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2001-03) and Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2004-08). In 132 career games, the 2007 East Division most outstanding player has tossed for 20,339 yards and 109 touchdowns.
Glenn led the Bombers to a 10-7-1 record and a berth in the 2007 Grey Cup final. He was unable to play in the championship game after suffering an arm injury in Winnipeg’s East semifinal win over Toronto.
Last season with the Bombers, the 29-year-old connected for 3,697 yards and 20 touchdowns with 20 interceptions.
