BLUE BOMBER head coach Mike Kelly moved Friday’s scheduled practice time up 30 minutes or so, catching the media and — some of the club’s staff — off guard and severely handcuffing some of the television stations who arrived at the allotted time to interview players and help promote the game.

Said Kelly afterward: “Gosh, I hate when the media’s so angry. I want to apologize to everyone who happens to have their panties in a ball. We made a coaching decision (Friday) morning that our game is only 27 hours away, we thought our guys have had a good week of practice and we had decided to get them off the field first. That was a football decision and contacting the media was not the first thing on my mind when I was discussing what we were going to do with our football team.”

As well, Bomber QB Michael Bishop told The Canadian Press he was not starting because of a wonky hamstring, although that, apparently, was some sort of joke. Worth noting is Bishop’s cousin is actor Jamie Foxx.

“His degree is a B.S., not a doctorate degree… I don’t know about that, I think he’s fine,” said Kelly. “Hey, we’ll be there at 1:30 (Saturday). That’s the game time in case you wanted to know.”
