Vegas line: B.C. by 7
Bombers line: No one has given them any respect this season. That’s the company account, a message based on fabricated grudges and low expectations. Inconsistent play at times has something to do with it but make no mistake: The Winnipeg defence is the great equalizer. It has been the difference. Quarterback play often carries the day in the CFL, and Buck Pierce is no stranger to being ruled out, but this game won’t be won on his watch. If he can manage the game, the Bombers might be covered in confetti at the end of the night.
Lions line: About those concerns surrounding quarterback Travis Lulay and the pressure of the post-season: It’s a non-factor, as evidenced by his play in the Western final last weekend. He’s passed one test, now comes the final exam. The Leos, riding a wave of success that has staggered the rest of the league, are the prohibitive favourites. The kicker never misses and the defence is actually improving as the season moves along. The stars have certainly aligned in Vancouver, haven’t they? Too bad the roof will be closed.
Bottom line: Winnipeg’s run game needs to control the tempo.
