TWO more seldom-used pieces of the puzzle from the Brendan Taman-Doug Berry era — American receiver Kerry Johnson and Canadian defensive lineman Matt Kudu — have been released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Both players saw little action last season, although Johnson showed some promise in the few games he played. But new head coach Mike Kelly has plenty of options at receiver, with imports Terrence Edwards, Derick Armstrong, Romby Bryant and Jason Armstead all expected back.
The club also has Canadian veterans Arjei Franklin and Jamie Stoddard, as well as sophomore Aaron Hargreaves, along with newly acquired Brock Ralph at the receiver positions.
Kudu was injured much of last year and was used in a backup role when he was available, but the Bombers have acquired Canadian Riall Johnson from Toronto and have promising Canuck Don Oramasionwu and import vet Tyrone Williams, who they signed after his release from the B.C. Lions.
