QUOTABLE: Here’s Bomber coach Mike Kelly when asked by TSN’s Shawn Churchill which move in the offseason he thinks is really paying off:

"Yeah… hiring me (then breaks into laughter before changing his voice)… ‘Oh, that Kelly, he’s so cocky!’"

For the record, his official answer was bringing aboard director of player personnel John Murphy.

ED TAIT THINKS YOU SHOULD KNOW…

‘F’ IS FOR FOOTBALL: Kelly was hooked up with a microphone for Thursday morning’s practice for a piece being done by TSN. And, by all accounts, there will be a lot of ‘bleeps’ when the piece airs.

"I was miked up for TSN today and they said I had 28 F-bombs by 8:30 (a.m.)," said Kelly. "I actually think that’s pretty good. I’m cutting down. That’s just normal operational procedure. I’ve got to learn to control that a little bit better. It’s just…. I can’t explain it. It’s just football, that starts with an ‘F.’"

ROMANCE FOR RAMONCE: Former Texas star Ramonce Taylor was late getting on the field for training camp, but has been dynamite since his arrival.

"He’s an impressive young man athletically," said Kelly. "He’s handled himself extremely well. He’s very personable, a very nice young man. I don’t know if I’ve seen anybody catch punts as relaxed as he does. He’s just very natural at what he does. He’s got a long way to go, he’s raw. He’s got a long way to go in learning how to play the game and how to play the position, but his natural skills certainly are impressive.

"He brings up a lot of very good questions, he is very football smart and he’s trying to adapt and embrace the Canadian game. He’s constantly asking questions that are sensible questions. He wants to do well and that’s half the battle right there."

TSN PLUG: The network unveiled some of their coverage plans on Wednesday and they include all 77 games, including the 97th Grey Cup in Calgary and the hiring of Milt Stegall as a guest analyst. The season opens with a Canada Day doubleheader, Toronto at Hamilton, 6 p.m. and Montreal @ Calgary at 9 p.m. Winnipeg is on the tube on July 2nd from Edmonton at 8 p.m. and the network will air a preview show on Sunday, June 28th at 6 p.m.
