Hey there, time traveller!

GONE AND GONE:
It was just a line in a press release on Friday and meant to be more of a housekeeping item than anything else, but in the end it said so much more. The Bombers announced they were giving jersey No. 1, worn most recently by Charles Roberts, to linebacker Siddeeq Shabazz. The club has set aside the No. 85 worn by receiver Milt Stegall but the number worn by Roberts, who is the club’s leading all-time rusher and a future CFL Hall of Famer, has already been passed on. Stegall was a consummate professional and ranks among the best receivers in CFL history. Roberts, on the other hand, was a troubled soul who could run like the wind on the field and had a tendency to do the same off the field. Gone not but forgotten, huh? Not in Charlie’s case.
GILES A KEEPER:
The Bombers are so high on running back Lavarus Giles they’ve already opened negotiations with the former Jackson State star on a contract extension. Word is a deal with Giles will be wrapped up in the coming days and announced early next week. Wow, that was quick. Just last week Giles was in a dogfight to make the club, but breakout performances in two pre-season games have convinced Bombers brass that he’s a keeper.
BACK IN ACTION:
Receiver Brock Ralph and LB Siddeeq Shabazz were both back in action on Saturday, taking reps in practice. Ralph appears ready to go and coach Mike Kelly said, "Brock looked just fine." So expect Ralph to be active on Thursday night in Edmonton. Defensive tackle Tyrone Williams has been placed on the one-week injured list and is ineligible for Thursday’s game. Shabazz is still a question mark.
