"When you look back at the first Hamilton game and see how he played then and how he’s playing now…. it looks like two different guys other than the fact they’re wearing the same uniform. He has really matured rapidly. And for whatever reason, about the last month, I think he feels like a burden has been lifted… he stepped up and saw that he could step up and take a leadership role. His work ethic, his enthusiasm, everything has increased and it’s all been reflected in his game."

Marcel Bellefeuille — man who wears the big headset in Hamilton — keeps insisting there is no QB controversy with the Ticats and he’s repeated it again this week: Quinton Porter will start on Monday with former Bomber Kevin Glenn in reserve. "I’ve been consistent since coming out of training camp that he’s our quarterback," Bellefeuille told The Hamilton Spectator. "Kevin (Glenn) is here if Quinton’s injured, or if he’s not doing the job for us.

"I don’t think I have to announce the quarterback every week. Quinton is quarterback. That’s the reality and that hasn’t changed."

For what it’s worth, Kelly & Co. expect to see Glenn — perhaps in the same way he came off the bench to rally the Ticats in the win over Winnipeg this summer. "I will not be surprised to see Kevin Glenn at some point in that game. So, we’re preparing for both," said Kelly. "They both present unique challenges and we’re not taking either one of them lightly at all. We’ll be prepared."

Some leftovers: expect Lenny Walls to be matched up against the dangerous Arland Bruce III for most of Monday’s game… The Ticats have added former Rutgers kicker Jeremy Ito, an import, to their practice roster. Management is none too pleased with veteran Nick Setta, who is a league-low 73.0 per cent on field-goal attempts.
