GAME BALLS:

ñº OFFENCE

Tough to find someone from the Bombers bunch to give a game ball to but the offensive line was solid for most of the day, giving quarterback Michael Bishop lots of time and opening some nice holes for Fred Reid.

ñº DEFENCE

Defensive back Lenny Walls was strong, making a pair of interceptions and taking one to the house for a major. Dorian Smith and Doug Brown were solid on the defensive line and linebacker Ike Charlton was his usual consistent self.

ñº SPECIAL TEAMS

Derrick Doggett was all over the place, getting downfield on punts and kickoffs and making key tackles.

CRITICAL NUMBERS:

0

As in no catches for receiver Adarius Bowman. Bowman and Bishop were on different pages all day. Plus, the big wideout dropped a number of balls and seemingly ran the wrong route on more than one occasion.

2-13-10-0-2

Bombers QB Michael Bishop went 2-of-13 for 10 yards with no touchdowns and a pair of picks (both were returned for touchdowns) in the second half and in the process flushed his club’s chances for a victory. Bishop had help — his receivers dropped lots of balls — but at the end of the day most of the blame falls on the quarterback.

FAN-O-METER:

The Blue Bombers players weren’t the only ones fighting for more football as a near sold-out stadium of 29,038 fans gave it their best to open the game. The house got going at all the right moments for the Bombers. There were some lulls, however, and to start the third quarter it was real quiet. There were also boos in the third quarter after the Bombers called a run play on second-and-long for what seems like the millionth time this season. The boos got louder in the fourth quarter as the outcome became obvious and the fans showed their disgust as they began leaving in droves with lots of time left on the clock.
