THE Winnipeg Blue Bombers, expected to make a big splash early next week with the signing of quarterback Steven Jyles, added a few more pieces to the puzzle on Friday.
The Bombers and Jyles have agreed to a deal in principle. Minor details are to be worked out and an announcement is possible as soon as Monday.
In the interim, the club came to terms with free agent offensive lineman Ryan Donnelly and prospect quarterback Adam DiMichele. The team also extended the contract of wide receiver Adarius Bowman.
Bowman led the Bombers in receiving yards last season collecting 925 yards on 55 receptions, while scoring six touchdowns.
Bowman had a career-best 213 yards on 10 catches with two touchdowns against Hamilton on Oct. 15.
Donnelly battled through injury all of last season and earned a reputation in the locker-room as a warrior and selfless team player.
The eight-year CFL veteran played in all 18 games, starting 12.
DiMichele spent time on Winnipeg’s practice roster last season and is expected to fight for a backup role in training camp.
DiMichele played college football at Temple, throwing for 5,024 yards and 40 touchdowns with the Owls.
