PAT DELMONACO has been named the offensive line coach for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The CFL club made the announcement on Thursday that DelMonaco, who has spent the past six seasons coaching at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York state, has joined the Blue and Gold.
“Pat is (a) tremendous teacher of the fundamentals of the offensive line and we are excited to have him in our organization,” said Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice in a release.
DelMonaco, a product of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., played centre with University of Albany Great Danes in 1996-2000 and was a team captain in his senior year. During DelMonaco’s four-year career, the Great Danes won two Eastern Football Conference championships (1997 and 1998).
DelMonaco joined Rensselaer as offensive line coach and in 2005 was also named offensive coordinator. He served in that capacity for five seasons. In 2008, the team’s offence led the Liberty League in scoring (29.8 points per game) and passing offence (265.5 yards per game.
After his playing career ended, DelMonaco spent three years at Hudson Valley Community College where he coached the offensive line and quarterbacks before joining the staff at Rensselaer.
