A pair of Canadians and three imports have been added to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers roster, the club announced Tuesday.
The five, who will report to training camp in June, are imports defensive lineman Remond Willis, wide receiver Kenny Strickland and linebacker Henti Baird. The non-imports are defensive lineman Deji Oduwole and defensive back Jerry-Ralph Jules.
Oduwole, at 6-foot-2, played college ball with the University of Calgary Dinosaurs. The Coquitlam, B.C., native started all eight games at defensive end in 2008, recording 31 tackles and leading his team with five sacks.
Jules, a 5-10, 175-pound Laval native, played his CIS football at the University of Montreal and was a standout defensive back.
In 2009, Willis, a 6-1, 248-pound native of Dexter, Mo., was in the Calgary Stampeders’ training camp. He played his college football at Tennessee State, where in 2007, he led the club in tackles with 84, including 50 solo efforts. In 2008 for the Tigers, he started 10 games and made 55 tackles, including three tackles for a loss and recovered two fumbles.
A product of Johnson C. Smith University, San Jose native Strickland (5-10, 185 pounds), transferred from San Jose City College where he had 20 catches for 362 yards and 26 kickoff returns for 845 yards.
Baird, of Greensboro, played at Hampton where in 2008 he had 57 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and one interception. Baird stands 6-2, and weighs 205 pounds.
