1. Cory Watson

— Selected in the second round, ninth overall.

Position: Receiver.

Height: 6-2.

Weight: 204.

Born: March 27, 1984 in Jamaica.

School: Concordia University. Hometown: Dollard des Ormeaux, Que.

The skinny: Concordia’s leading receiver the past three seasons… caught 52 passes for 821 yards and six TDs last year, ranking second in the CIS in receptions, receiving yardage and yards per game… a second-team CIS all-star in ’09… called toughest receiver in draft by TSN analyst Duane Forde, but had an average evaluation camp, which may have hurt his stock in some teams’ eyes.

LaPolice says: "He’s a big, physical wide receiver who’s got a great upside. He can run by people but he can also muscle and leverage people to get open. We wanted to make sure we could upgrade our Canadian receiver talent and he was somebody we really had high on the board."

 

2. Christopher Smith

— Selected in the fourth round, 28th overall.

Position: LB.

Height: 6-2.

Weight: 220.

Born: Jan. 31, 1988.

School: Queen’s University. Hometown: Toronto.

The skinny: Cover linebacker type who was the defensive MVP in the Queen’s 2009 Vanier Cup victory… started three years at Queen’s… ranked as best cover linebacker in draft by Forde… second-team OUA all-star in 2008… outstanding athlete who played eight different positions in high school.

LaPolice says: "A SAM (cover) linebacker. He’s a bit of a hybrid because he had some coverage responsibilities. We’ll put him more in a middle linebacker and special-teams role. But for a big kid he runs really well. He’s very intelligent and he can do a lot of different things in coverages. We feel he can come in and compete right now and linebacker was an area we needed to improve with (Neil) McKinlay retiring. He was one of the higher-rated linebackers we had."

3. Anthony Woodson

— Selected in the fourth round, 29th overall.

Position: RB.

Height: 6-0.

Weight: 196.

Born: Jan. 7, 1988.

School: University of Calgary. Hometown: Calgary.

The skinny: Led Canada West in rushing in ’07 with 1,183 yards but has played in only three games in the last two years after suffering through injury… still ranked second-best RB in draft by Forde… runner-up for Canada West player of the year in ’07 and a CIS second-team all-star… now rehabbing a foot injury he suffered at the evaluation camp and missed the Dinos’ spring camp this past weekend… dad is former Stampeder linebacker Anthony Woodson.

Bomber brass says: "We wanted to get competition at the tailback position. Anthony Woodson is a tremendous talent who has had a lot of injuries. We think he’ll be ready to come to camp."

 

4. Christopher Greaves

— Selected in the sixth round, 45th overall.

Position: DL.

Height: 6-5;

Weight: 290.

Born: Jan. 8, 1987.

School: University of Western Ontario. Hometown: Toronto.

The skinny: Named to the OUA second all-star team in ’09…. Forde had him ranked as the fourth-best D-tackle and suggested he wasn’t as consistent as some thought he could have been… strong E-camp.

LaPolice says: "He’s a big defensive lineman who showed very well at the evaluation camp. He’s got tremendous upside and he gives us depth at a position, obviously we have Doug Brown and Donny O (Oramasionwu) at that spot, but he’s a great guy to add."
