— OPTIMIST PARK: There seems to be conflicting reports on the injury status of SB Terence Jeffers-Harris — and they’re coming from the two people closest to the situation.
Monday, head coach Paul LaPolice said his star rookie receiver would be out at least a couple weeks with an ankle sprain, even going so far to tell reporters that the limp Jeffers-Harris was dealing with wasn’t a good sign for his immediate future.
Tuesday, the first-year Bomber had this timetable for his injury: "As soon as possible. This weekend would be great for me. I think I’ll play this weekend."
Given the fact Jeffers-Harris has 317 yards receiving and three touchdowns already this season, it would be great news for the club, too, but that doesn’t seem likely. Not with the black walking boot the player was sporting on his right foot during practice. Even the head coach got a chuckle out of the player’s optimism, before setting the record straight again that it would be at least a game or two before Jeffers-Harris would return.
His spot will be filled by either WR Chris Davis or WR Jamayel Smith.
— CANADIAN CONTENT: The Bombers welcomed two non-imports to the practice roster, bringing in receiver David McKoy and safety James Green Tuesday. In McKoy, the club gets a 6-foot-2, 195-pound pass catcher who was originally taken ninth overall in the 2007 Canadian college draft by Saskatchewan.
McKoy, 27, suffered a knee injury his first year with the Riders and missed the majority of the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
Green, 27, comes to the Winnipeg secondary via Toronto, who drafted him in the third round of the 2009 CFL draft.
