VEGAS LINE: Calgary by 3

BLUE VS. STAMPS:

Winnipeg holds an 89-95 record against Calgary, but has won the last four meetings at Canad Inns Stadium. The Stamps beat the Bombers 23-20 earlier this season.

THE FORECAST:

According to Environment Canada, looks like it will be a nice night for a ball game. The daytime high is 10 C, but that should start to creep toward the freezing mark before kickoff. Dress warm — you can always de-layer.

BOMBERS UPDATE:

Winnipeg wants to win the game and they want to look at talent, so any changes in the game will come as the score dictates. Rookie LB Rico McCoy gets the start in the middle, replacing Joe Lobendahn (who may not dress). Additions to the 46-man roster also include Deon Beasley and DT Dorian Smith. Smith probably won’t make the 42-man list, however.

STAMPS UPDATE:

Head coach John Hufnagel has tried to motivate his troops for this one by using the four-game Manitoba losing streak, but don’t be surprised if the coach yanks his starters out of this one early.

THE RAMIFICATIONS:

Um, there are none. Winnipeg is out of the post-season picture for the second straight year, while the Stamps are looking at a first-round bye after this one. Calgary clinched first in the West division thanks to the Saskatchewan free fall and awaits their opponent — the Riders, Eskimos, or Lions — for the West final.

PLAYER TO WATCH:

Non-import RB Jesse Lumsden, signed by the Stamps after the Bombers made noise about bringing him to Winnipeg, finally saw some game action last week and he didn’t disappoint (four carries for 40 yards and a touchdown). A strong performance by Lumsden against the Bomb Squad could be more salt in the wound for those at Canad Inns Stadium.

LOCKED UP:

The Blue signed LB Marcellus Bowman and Beasley to two-year extensions Thursday. Bowman, 24, has 45 tackles, two sacks, one interception and eight special teams tackles, while Beasley, 23, has 22 tackles, one fumble recovery and two interceptions since joining the team in July.
