Game Balls

Offence — His numbers weren’t anything special — 12-26 for 151 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT — but Bombers quarterback Buck Pierce’s gutsy performance in the second half — after a devestating sack by Hamilton LB Jamal Johnson ripped Pierce’s helmet off — was exactly the statement his teammates and an entire city of Bomber fans wanted to hear from their quarterback.

Defence — Safety Ian Logan hauled down two interceptions in the fourth quarter but it was the first one by defensive back Alex Suber — and the ensuing 66-yard return for what proved to be a game-winning touchdown — that turned the tide in Winnipeg’s favour.

Special teams — Bombers kick returner Perry Floyd continues to electrify, returning four kicks for 105-yards, including a 56-yard return in the first quarter that helped set up a Buck Pierce-Terrence Edwards TD strike. Floyd also fumbled a punt return, but knocked it out of bounds himself and withstood a video review to earn the honours.

Numbers

10 — Number of road games the Bombers had lost in a row until Friday night, dating back to October 2009.

2 — Number of interceptions by Bombers safety Ian Logan in the fourth quarter

66 — Number of yards travelled by Bombers defensive back Alex Suber on a fourth-quarter interception return for a touchdown

3/68 — Bombers slotback Terrence Edwards had a huge first quarter, hauling down three catches for 68 yards including a 49-yard TD reception. He later left the game with sore ribs.

Fan-o-meter

You could have heard a pin drop at Ivor Wynne as Bombers DB Alex Suber trotted into the end zone on a 66-yard interception return early in the fourth quarter that put the Bombers in the lead to stay.
