VANCOUVER — Blue Bombers defensive end Odell Willis, an unhappy camper since the club chose to rotate him in and out of the defence, has lashed out on Twitter.

Willis provided some pointed and expletive-filled commentary not at the Bombers but towards the CFL player’s association, publicly voicing his disbelief on being passed over for the CFLPA all-star team late Thursday night. The squad is voted on by the players, and Willis felt he wasn’t given proper due — pointing to his CFL-leading 13 sacks this year (tied with Hamilton’s Justin Hickman).

“I don’t care about that,” he told a throng of reporters Friday. “My résumé is proof enough. Thirty-four sacks in three years, I feel like I’m doing good. When you put the film on and check it out, you’re going to see 40 (his number) doing what he’s doing.”

Willis (Twitter handle: @KuntryKane205) drew even more attention to himself earlier Thursday when he wrote that he’d rather be at home for U.S. Thanksgiving and not at the Grey Cup with his team. Wrote Willis:

“Man da hell wit da (Grey Cup), I want some Thanksgiving food,” wishing he was home for his aunt’s Thanksgiving dinner.

Being with family over the holidays is a noble sentiment, no question, but the timing of his desire to be anywhere but Vancouver wasn’t sitting well with others just days out of Sunday’s matchup with the B.C. Lions.

“Completely, completely wrong,” defensive back Jovon Johnson told TSN, when asked about Willis’ tweets.

Head coach Paul LaPolice was a little more evasive.

“I use Twitter to talk to the fans and I know those guys have all different ways that they talk,” he offered, cautiously wording his answers when the subject of Willis came up in the coach’s press conference after the workout. “I haven’t really seen into too much about what he was talking about. I’ll have to research into it.”
