LORNE BENSON, who played five seasons for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, 1951-55, died last Tuesday at the age of 81 in Innisfail, Alta.
Known as “Boom Boom Benson” during his playing career, he holds the CFL record for most points in a playoff game with 30 and most touchdowns in a playoff game with six. Both records were set on Oct. 28, 1953 against Saskatchewan.
Benson is survived by his wife Betty of 62 years, five children, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com.
