Nic Grigsby. Caught the ball in the end zone with no time on the clock; had 56 tough rushing yards and ended the night with two majors.

DEFENCE

Two sacks for Greg Peach on Hamilton QB Dan LeFevour; D-line exerted a fair amount of pressure on the Hamitlon pivot.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Hamilton’s Quincy McDuffie contributed a brilliant 67-yard punt return in the fourth quarter to put the home team ahead.

CRITICAL NUMBERS

2: Number of last-minute victories the Bombers have posted this season. Also the yards covered by the final regular play from scrimmage in this game, a pass to Grigsby for a touchdown; also the number of fumbles the Bombers lost on Thursday night.

361: Yards passing for Winnipeg quarterback Drew Willy, on 31 completions in 43 attempts.

189: Yards passing for Hamilton’s Dan LeFevour, not bad considering he had just 17 in the first half.

6: Number of Hamilton two-and-outs before the team’s anemic offence came to life in the third quarter with a 48-yard pass-and-run touchdown to C.J. Gable.

3: Sacks by Winnipeg on LeFevour, including one very important one in the fourth quarter by Greg Peach, putting the Cats out of field-goal range.

FAN-O-METER:

The 6,000 or so gathered at Ron Joyce Stadium on a perfect summer night were restless with the home team in the first half, but roared back to life when Gable broke free for his major when the Bombers were caught blitzing.

OOPS

With eight seconds left in the first half, the Bombers looked to be in position to try for a 49-yard Lirim Hajrullahu field goal to extend their 13-3 lead. But while they were shuffling personnel on and off the field amid some confusion, the visitors were called for too many men in the huddle. That 10-yard penalty shunted the ball out of field-goal range and a try for points. In the end, it wasn’t costly but it could well have been a factor.
