The CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers have trimmed 12 players from their roster to comply with today’s 75-player roster limit.

Included in the cuts were: import quarterback Myles Carr, import receivers Di’Andre Campbell, Rashon Ceaser, Xavier Rush and Alex Chisum, import running back Johnta Hebert, import defensive backs Jeremy Harris, Tre’ Hunter and Keith Lewis, import linebacker Will Smith, non-import defensive lineman Brandon Tennant and non-import linebacker Akeem Whonder. Tennant dressed for four games during the 2016 season.

Head coach Mike O’Shea oversaw last week’s mini-camp in preparation for today’s roster cut-down. Thirty-seven players, including a trio of veteran quarterbacks, took part in the three-day event.

Winnipeg’s next on-field action comes on May 24 when quarterbacks and newcomers report for the opening of rookie camp. Veterans report on May 26 with main training camp slated to open on May 28.

The club has two pre-season games scheduled, visiting the Saskatchewan Roughriders on June 10 before hosting the Edmonton Eskimos on June 15. The Bombers will have a Week 1 bye during the regular season before their opener in Regina against the Roughriders on July 1.

The Blue Bombers are also preparing for Sunday’s CFL draft in which they have the first- and sixth-overall picks in the draft. The No. 1 selection was acquired from the Toronto Argonauts in a mid-season deal for quarterback Drew Willy.
