Trey Hendrickson is ready for a fresh start after leaving Cincinnati for a division rival

Noah Trister, The Associated Press 4 minute read 3:28 PM CDT

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Trey Hendrickson had a close-up view of the Ravens for several seasons while playing for the Cincinnati Bengals — and even if he hadn't been in the same division, he'd have been well aware of the talent Baltimore possessed.

“I’ve seen a lot of purple at the Pro Bowls over the last four years,” Hendrickson said. ”It’s something that I’m excited to play with those guys. I got to meet them and their families at those type of events, which what a blessing to be a part of that. You get to see the behind the mask. We’re all people at the end of the day. But a place like this — the standard of defense is very high."

Now Hendrickson joins a Baltimore defense that already included Kyle Hamilton in the secondary and Roquan Smith at linebacker. The Ravens signed Hendrickson to a four-year, $112 million deal, and they introduced him at a news conference Friday.

Baltimore agreed to, then backed out of, a trade for pass rushing star Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders. Then the Ravens landed Hendrickson to fill a similar role.

The Associated Press 2 minute read Updated: 3:59 PM CDT

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys agreed to terms Friday with cornerback Cobie Durant, who had an NFL-best three interceptions during the playoffs for the Los Angeles Rams last season.

Durant is the sixth defensive player the Cowboys have added in free agency or through trades. He had three of his seven career regular-season interceptions in 2025, then matched that total in three postseason games. Two came in a divisional round victory over Chicago.

Dallas also announced a deal with veteran offensive lineman Matt Hennessy, who could be a replacement for Brock Hoffman among the players adding depth up front. The Cowboys re-signed tight end Princeton Fant as well.

The Cowboys acquired edge rusher Rashan Gary in a trade with Green Bay and signed safeties Jalen Thompson and P.J. Locke along with defensive tackle Otito Ogbonnia. Dallas re-signed defensive end Sam Williams and brought back Tyrus Wheat, an undrafted outside linebacker who was with the Cowboys for two years before spending last season in Detroit.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Daniel Jones spent his entire offseason rehabbing, letting his agents deal with the business side of football.

On Thursday, almost exactly four months after suffering a torn right Achilles tendon in a loss at Jacksonville, Jones returned to the Indianapolis Colts team complex with a new two-year contract worth up to $100 million and a promising timetable for his return to play — the 2026 regular-season opener.

“I’m very confident in being back to 100% and ready to go,” he said. “I’m in a good spot, I’m on schedule. I think from everything the doctors are telling me — trainers, rehab, physical therapists — I think I’m in a good spot. I’ve hit my marks and just have to continue to do that."

The prognosis couldn't be any brighter for Indy.

The Associated Press 2 minute read Yesterday at 3:35 PM CDT

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — The Baltimore Ravens have added safety Jaylinn Hawkins and tight end Durham Smythe, and the team also announced the signing of star edge rusher Trey Hendrickson on Thursday.

Hendrickson reached a four-year, $112 million deal with the Ravens on Wednesday. The official announcement is often a formality but took on added significance after Baltimore backed out of a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders that would have sent pass rusher Maxx Crosby to the Ravens.

There has been no last-minute snag for Hendrickson, who is scheduled to be introduced at a news conference Friday.

The 28-year-old Hawkins spent the last two years with the New England Patriots, where he started all 15 games he played in this past season. He had 1 1/2 sacks and four interceptions in 2025.

Trade bet unravels as the Titans move on from L’Jarius Sneed after two seasons

Teresa M. Walker, The Associated Press 2 minute read Updated: 3:16 PM CDT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans released cornerback L'Jarius Sneed on Friday after two disappointing seasons in a move that frees up more salary cap space for a franchise that has been investing heavily in free agents in the new NFL year.

Sneed played only 12 games combined in 2024 and 2025 without a single interception and was placed on injured reserve in October.

The Titans gave the two-time Super Bowl champion a four-year contract, making him the NFL’s fifth-highest paid cornerback, in March 2024 after a trade with Kansas City. Sneed's deal gave him an average of $19.4 million as part of the Titans' last big spending spree.

Tennessee already has replaced Sneed in the new league year. The Titans signed Alontae Taylor from New Orleans, Cor'Dale Flott from the New York Giants and Joshua Williams from Kansas City.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have a new coach in Robert Saleh for the upcoming season and are opening a new enclosed stadium in 2027.

So, no reason to wait to update their uniforms and logos.

The Titans unveiled their new look Thursday night at a party featuring current and past players. The new uniforms lean heavily on the history of the franchise, which started in 1960 as the AFL's Houston Oilers. The team celebrates its 30th season in Tennessee this year.

“Today is about honoring over 65 years of our organization while confidently stepping into the next chapter, and I couldn’t be more excited for our players, our city, and our fans to wear this identity with pride,” owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement.

Vikings sign Kyler Murray in their latest QB pivot, bringing in competition for J.J. McCarthy

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings found in Kyler Murray an ideal addition to their quarterback depth chart, setting up stiff competition for incumbent J.J. McCarthy for the starting job this season — and perhaps beyond.

Murray visited Vikings headquarters and signed a one-year contract on Thursday, after the first overall pick from the 2019 NFL draft was released by the Arizona Cardinals. Because he's already owed $36.8 million in guaranteed salary by the Cardinals for this season, Murray was able to sign for the veteran minimum of $1.3 million and give the Vikings a no-risk opportunity.

“Contractually, it doesn’t really make a difference to me. Every year to me is a go-out-there-and-prove-it year,” Murray said on a video call with reporters.

Murray, despite being sidetracked recently by injuries and dogged by questions about his work ethic, has two Pro Bowl selections, a 67% career completion percentage, a 2-to-1 ratio of touchdown passes to interceptions — and a bonus of 3,193 rushing yards with 32 scores.

A new era in Miami: Malik Willis introduced as the Dolphins’ presumptive starting QB

Tim Reynolds, The Associated Press 4 minute read Yesterday at 12:43 PM CDT

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Malik Willis no longer has to wait his turn.

He wasn't the starter when he began college at Auburn. Didn't initially have the role when he transferred to Liberty. Wasn't the starter when entering the NFL as Tennessee's third-round pick, then wasn't the starter when he got traded to Green Bay.

With Miami, all that seems like it's about to change.

The Dolphins signed and introduced their new presumptive starting quarterback on Thursday, three days after striking the deal to land Willis — a move that followed the decision to part ways with Tua Tagovailoa and accept an NFL-record $99 million dead cap hit over the next two years.

NFL free agency: Panthers, 49ers, Patriots, Jets and Rams are early winners

Rob Maaddi, The Associated Press 5 minute read Updated: Yesterday at 11:52 AM CDT

Winning free agency doesn’t guarantee success.

It’s still a good start.

NFL teams have committed billions of dollars in free agency, hoping the players they’ve added can help them win a Super Bowl.

Some of the more aggressive teams — the Raiders and Titans — would be happy if new players just make them more competitive after futile seasons.

Demario Davis rejoined a familiar face in a familiar place for the next stop in his long, impressive NFL journey.

After eight years with the New Orleans Saints, the 37-year-old linebacker signed with the New York Jets for a third stint with the team that drafted him. And this time, he's back with coach Aaron Glenn.

“Once my agents let me know that the Jets were an option, it was a no-brainer,” Davis said Thursday during a video call with reporters.

Davis was a third-round pick by New York in 2012 out of Arkansas State and Glenn a personnel scout during the linebacker's first two NFL seasons. The two just missed each other when Davis played in Cleveland in 2016 and Glenn left the Browns to join New Orleans' staff as an assistant. But they were back together again in 2018 when Davis left the Jets for a second time to play with the Saints.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wouldn't rule out re-engaging in trade talks for edge rusher Maxx Crosby while saying he didn't anticipate such a move since his club is “pretty far down the road” in free agency.

The Cowboys were on a short list of suitors when the Baltimore Ravens agreed to send two first-round draft picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for Crosby, only to back out of the deal a day before it could become official.

When Crosby was still apparently headed to Baltimore, Dallas acquired edge rusher Rashan Gary from Green Bay for a 2027 fourth-round pick on the first day of free agency this week.

The Cowboys have been in flux with their pass rush ever since sending young star Micah Parsons to the Packers for two first-rounders a week before the season started last year.

A deal isn’t a deal until it’s official.

The Las Vegas Raiders learned that hard lesson Tuesday night when the Baltimore Ravens backed out of a blockbuster trade for star edge rusher Maxx Crosby.

A person with knowledge of Baltimore’s decision told The Associated Press that Crosby failed his physical. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because those results are private.

Crosby underwent surgery in January to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He missed the final two games of the season because of the injury despite wanting to play through it at the time.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Saints traded punter Kai Kroeger and a 2028 seventh-round draft pick to Houston on Wednesday for the Texans' 2028 sixth-round draft choice.

The trade, announced by Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, comes on the heels of New Orleans' free-agent signing of former Minnesota punter Ryan Wright to a four-year, $14 million contract.

Kroeger is entering his second NFL season.

Undrafted out of South Carolina, he initially signed with the New York Jets last offseason before joining the Saints during last preseason.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Giants co-owners Steve, Laurie and Jonathan Tisch want to transfer their shares of the NFL club to their children’s trusts, according to a league memo that was obtained by The Associated Press.

According to the memo, the Tisch siblings would move the remaining 23.1% of the Giants that they still own to the trusts after completing previous transfers in 2023 and ’24. The memo states, “Following the transactions, the sellers will no longer own any interest in the club.”

A Giants spokesperson said the team had no comment. ESPN was first to report the transfer request.

It was not clear if the transfer requests were in any way related to Steve Tisch’s name appearing in the Jeffrey Epstein files released by the U.S. Justice Department in January. Steve Tisch’s name came up more than 400 times in the files. Tisch at the time said he knew Epstein but denied going to his island.
