NIAKWA’S Scott Markham fired a five-under-par 67 to jump into the fray Tuesday at the Canadian men’s amateur golf championship being played in Quebec.
Markham had six birdies and just one bogey at Club de golf le Blainvillier, helping to offset his opening round of 76 and leaving him at 1-under through 36 holes.
Two long weather delays Tuesday forced the second round to carry over to this morning. Markham’s score left him six off the overall lead when play was shut down for the day.
Markham will also likely be the only Manitoba player to make the 36-hole cut at the Canadian Am. Selkirk’s Scott Borsa was 8-over for two days, with one hole to play this morning, Garth Collings of Breezy Bend was 75 Tuesday for a two-day total of 11-over, Scott Loewen of Pine Ridge was 14-over with one hole to play and Tyler Mancini of Pine Ridge was 9-over for two days with just one hole to play.
The cut looked to be falling at or near four-over 148 for 36 holes.
