PINE RIDGE’S Brad Kirton finished off this week’s Canadian Tour fall qualifying school with his best round of the week but it wasn’t enough to obtain playing privileges for the 2010 season.
Kirton shot an even-par 71 Saturday at Hidden Lake Golf Course in Burlington, Ont., leaving him with a four-day total of 296, 12-over-par. That was 11 shots away from earning a card, as the tour gave out 15 all-exempt memberships and 15 more conditional cards.
Kirton, Manitoba’s Amateur champ in 2007 and 2008, had three bogeys on his front nine Saturday and followed it with three birdies on the back side. He ended up tied for 77th spot.
The other Manitoban trying for a Canadian Tour card this week was reigning provincial match play and mid-amateur champion Tyler Mancini, also of Pine Ridge.
Mancini, who turned pro just a couple of weeks ago, shot 3-over 74 on Saturday, finishing at 15-over 299 and in a tie for 85th.
The winner of this Q-school event was Johnny Bloomfield of Jamaica at 14-under.
