GARTH Collings of Breezy Bend Country Club shot a 1-under-par 70 on Tuesday at the Selkirk Golf and Country Club to take the lead at the half-way point of the Manitoba Mid-amateur championship.
The six-time provincial mid-amateur champion improved by three shots from the score he posted in the first round on Monday.
Niakwa’s Ken Warwick shot a 72 for a two-day score of 145 and heads into today’s third round in second place, two shots back of Collings.
Chad Facey of Neepawa, who had led after the first round with a 71, shot a four-over 75 yesterday to drop to a four-way tie for third place with Rossmere’s Rob Oliphant (73), Teale Merkeley of Southwood (73) and Selkirk’s Brian Buffie (69).
