One was a runaway and the other was a nail-biter at today’s final round of the Manitoba men’s and women’s junior golf championships.

Southwood’s Veronica Vetesnik carded a four-over 77 today and cruised to an easy victory in the junior women’s event, defeating runner-up Camryn Roadley by nine shots.

It was the second straight provincial junior title for the 18-year-old.

On the men’s side, 15-year-old Wesley Hoydalo of Selkirk held on for a one-shot win over Marco Trstenjak of Larters.

Hoydalo shot a four-over 75 today to finish the week at one-over 285 between Transcona and Elmhurst.

Trstenjak had a chance to force a playoff on the final green but missed a curling, two-foot par putt to pull even.
